Dead and Gone

"Dead and Gone" (D.Blood)
I'm weighing in my head
Every word you've said
You don't have to carry on
And when that's said and done
Just like the setting sun
It won't last here very long
I don't want to know
How this garden grows
Take that arrow from its mark
It's always in my head
And so misunderstood
My heart is heavy as a rock
And it was hard to keep dreams alive
I knew I couldn't be that kind of guy
When I'm dead and gone
Throw my tapes and clothes on the lawn
No more fighting for the dawn
You will just have to stand strong
Everyone can see
Everyone but me
And who's still laughing anyway?
So don't come knockin' here
There ain't nobody there
Give my blessing to the dogs
And it was hard to keep dreams alive
I knew I couldn't be that kind of guy
When I'm dead and gone
Throw my tapes and clothes on the lawn
No more fighting for the dawn
You will just have to stand strong
Carry on, carry on, carry on....

"Fingerpickin' Stuck On You" (D.Blood)
Hey little baby, sitting on my knee
Hey little baby, looking at me
The moment I held you I know that I was through
Oh baby, I'm fingerpickin' stuck on you
Hey little baby, sitting in the chair
Hey little baby, sitting over there
The moment I fed you I know that I was through
Oh baby, I'm fingerpickin' stuck on you
Hey little baby, looking real proud
Hey little baby, for crying out loud
The moment I saw you I know that I was through
Oh baby, I'm fingerpickin' stuck on you

"Supermarket" (D.Blood)
People want to know, who is that special one?
Lighting up their faces and glowing like the sun
You fill me with such pride, that makes me warm inside
You must be from heaven above, it blows my mind
'cause I fell in love at the supermarket
Pushing the cart past the grapes and apples
I looked down into your eyes and I knew you were mine
Sometimes I can see that they don't take me seriously
They must have felt important and had such a life lead
But nothing can replace the time we've spent face to face
I love just hanging around with you by my side
'cause I fell in love at the supermarket
Pushing the cart past the grapes and apples
I looked down into your eyes and I knew you were mine

"Helix" (D.Blood)
Everyday I’m waiting for the night
Every step feels like broken ice
Break the spell, just say that it’s alright
‘cause it’s hard to tell if our troubles are out of sight

"Low Down" (D.Blood)
You choose the words you say like everything depended on you
You think the friends you know will pull you through
I had so much to give, it never brought me closer to you
You’ll make the best of it, it’s true
I never want to see you live through any kind of pain I could give
Those years I towed the line waiting for the drop of a shoe
I turned the other cheek to see it through
Is this the way it ends together in a hospital room?
You took your dying breath too soon
I never want to see you live through any kind of pain I could give
And all those pretty things we say, they’re never gonna wash away
Heaven’s not a place we can stay
I don’t want to live feeling low down
I never want to see you live through any kind of pain I could give
And all those pretty things we say, they’re never gonna wash away
Heaven’s not a place we can stay

"Mint" (D.Blood)
Loosening up, feeling real fine
Getting all juiced up on the 4th of July
I lost my head, don’t know what to say
But it don’t matter, I’ll just push it away
But don’t come to my defense
Don’t come to my defense unless you’re mint
I can’t believe they signed that guy
Was my heart too heavy, were my poems too dry?
I can beat this town driving in my car
Just pushing the gas, hope it takes me far
Do you take me for some fool hanging on for dear life?
I’m saving all of my best tracks until they put out my boxed set
But don’t come to my defense
Don’t come to my defense unless you’re mint

"Pockets of Gold" (D.Blood)
Left my love by the river and filled my pockets with gold
I don't want to pretend, I can't mend
All these things that we've dealt
My love she ain't a quitter
With moonbeams that light up the sun
I don't want to defend I can't win
Can't you give me some help?

What This Means

"What This Means" (D.Blood)
Sometimes I can't say what's on my mind
I've gambled away my thoughts like broken dice
Every vein is rusted or shut down
Imagine all this space lost in a crowd
Sometimes I need you help
Put my arms around your company
Can't you see what this means to me?
Every job I've had didn't last long
I'd stick it out enough 'till things went wrong
Shuffling through my decks with a broken hand
It never came to much that you could understand
Sometimes I can't fake it
I'm no good at lying apparently
Can't you see what this means to me?
Can't you see how much this is killing me?
Can't you see what this means to me?
Can't you see how much this is killing me?

Walkin' Talkin' Mean
04:16
|

"Walkin' Talkin' Mean"
Well it didn't seem that long to me
When we first met that summer's eve
And I saw you in that sunny cocktail dress
We hit it off and it made me wild
I felt just like a little child
I wished that I had run the other way
I had just fallen off from a long affair
That broke my heart and left me impaired
But I just let inertia take the wheel
We soon got hitched, wasted no time
Took a deep breath and spilt the wine
Then I was a father, mercy me
But it soon became apparent that we were no match
You were young and I was over that
You had so much luggage I didn't see
And the little love we seemed to feel
You threw it right back and turned your heels
I was trying hard to let things be
You've been awful mean to me
Guilty as far as I can see
You've been lying, walkin', talkin' mean
But who's still laughing?
Well you smashed my LPs and you burned my tapes
Kicked my dog and you slapped my face
But somehow I still felt that we weren't through
Then plain as day, right before my eyes
My baby girl gave me a smile
I vowed she wouldn’t grow up in misery
So I packed my bags, faced the world
And I took the hand of my baby girl
I left you with no responsibilities
And sad to say you gave no fight
You were wrong and I was right
You're emptiness was quite a sight to see
You've been awful mean to me
I tried my best then set you free
You've been spittin', cursin', smokin' weed
But who's still laughing?
Well the years went by and we kept in touch
But things between us haven't changed too much
Your daddy pays your rent and lets you be
And you told me how you've slept around
With every little mutha-fuckin' thing around
I just rolled my eyes and kept the peace
And I'm still here for my baby girl
And she's growing up fast in this big cruel world
I've given her the best that I can be
I tell her to always follow her dreams
This life's not as hard as it may seem
And give her hope for possibilities
Your mom's been awful mean to me
She's been through hell, it's plain to see
She's been wasting time just looking mean
But who's still laughing?
